About

Colorado State University’s Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) Master of Science degree is designed for students seeking careers in student affairs and higher education administration in a college setting. The 33 credit hour program is typically completed in two years, unless students choose to attend part time or extend their program of study for other academic reasons. Each year a limited number of students are admitted with the intention that those who are full time students will be able to secure graduate assistantships. The Student Affairs in Higher Education program seeks students with diverse experiences and perspectives.

The Student Affairs in Higher Education Program is committed to the small and personalized cohort experience that highlights theory-to-practice with our scholar-practitioner faculty. We are grounded in our values of intellectual curiosity, diversity, self-development and reflection, personal growth and responsibility for self and learning.

The faculty members who teach in the program hold administrative positions in the university. These individuals combine academic preparation within the field with practical day-to-day knowledge of the operation of a university.

An important feature of the program is the opportunity to gain an array of professional experiences. While most students receive assistantships, all students use the University as a laboratory to gain practical experiences. The placement of our graduates is 100% each year.

Students complete a comprehensive paper that illustrates growth in multiple professional competency areas. The students complete self-assessments and receive feedback from faculty and assistantship supervisors on their professional achievement levels. This provides students with strategies to enhance their knowledge, skills, and experience as they focus on opportunities for professional development.

In addition to on-campus face-to-face delivery, the Student Affairs in Higher Education program is also offered online. The online Student Affairs in Higher Education Master of Science degree offers flexibility to students and professional anywhere in the world. Courses are offered asynchronously and follow a 16-week semester schedule for fall and spring semesters, and an 12-week or 8-week schedule for the summer term. The academic content and rigor is identical to the on-campus Student Affairs in Higher Education program.
